Of Butterflies and Humans
I love to watch the butterflies that flutter by -
They remind me of new life
Alloring heliotrope and amber wings that signify
Metamorphosis from the strife.
I love to watch the children grow -
Like butterflies, they change throughout the seasons
From gangling teens to full grown adults
Who act like human beings.
I love to observe butterflies emerging from cocoons,
Beautiful in their transformation,
Just as children who open their hearts to God
Become responsible and caring generations.
I love to see butterflies pollinate the flowers
After the marvel of transfiguration occurs,
A symbol of God's people lauding His powers
And continually spreading His word.

Butterfly
Lovely vision taking flight
On brightly colored wings,
Delicate creature,
Making its appearance every Spring.
Softly formed, with such finesse
So graceful, to behold,
Fragile creature,
Fluttering in shades of blue or gold.
In metamorphesis you change
To one you say "good-bye",
Enhancing all who gaze on you
Breathtaking Butterfly.
Enchanting all who gaze on you,
In splendor, do we nod,
Oh! dainty creature
Butterfly, created by our God.

Monarch
The gossamer wings of orange and black,
Carry the Monarch with flair.
Gently they move with an ease and a grace,
as they dance through the warm, summer air.
Softly the Monarch will land on a rose,
As his velvety wings fan the air.
He pauses a moment, then takes off again
With neither a worry nor care.
Nature has taught him the way he must be,
A creature who flies through the air.
Then gently he lands on a flower or leaf
With a grace that is hard to compare.
